Our story
Our Story
Black Shepherd Apiaries was founded in December 2018 by Ben and Robyn Stinson.
With a background of 12 years of bee-keeping experience and knowledge we wanted to provide New Zealand with top quality honey and share it to the world.
We are a family business producing a high quality natural product, bringing honey straight from the hive to your homes.
Our broad range of products are available in various packaging sizes and include: Clover, Rewarewa, Wildflower, Tawari, Kanuka, Manuka, honeycomb and beeswax candles.
We also offer a refill system of liquid wildflower so the consumer can fill a jar of their choice.
We manage every step of the process from hive, to production, to packaging and marketing, all in the upper North Island.
This means we can guarantee you are getting authentic and top quality honey and bee products. Our honey is harvested at the end of summer and tested to MPI standards and is packed in a recognized food safety standard facility. All our honey is traceable to its source, thus ensuring its integrity.
In our short time we have developed strong relationships with land owners ranging from Northland to Taihape, which allows us to place our hives on some of the most pristine countryside and coastal areas of New Zealand.
We love being in an industry we are passionate about. It is fascinating and very rewarding being able to supply a high-quality food product and work with the bees which are so important to the world’s eco system and food chain.
We strive to ensure that every resource we use comes from partners that prioritize sustainable practices. New Zealand is our home and we are passionate about protecting it in any ways that we can as a bee keeping business.
